Playing Members
Qualifications: Individuals eligible to be playing members are active tournament players or are actively involved in Badminton activities such asthe Southern California Badminton Association (SCBA) or USA Badminton (USAB). There are two classes of Playing Members: Regular & Senior; seniors are men & women age 35 or over.
Selection: The applicants for playing members are selected by the Adult Badminton Chairman and appointed by majority vote of the MBBC Board.
Applications: An application form and a MBBC rule acknowledgement form must be completed prior to an individual being appointed.
Tenure: Appointment as a playing member is for a period of six months. The MBBC board is to review the qualifications and playing status of each Playing Member at six-month intervals.
Fees: Playing Members pay the following upon appointment:
$25 nonrefundable admission fee
$150 refundable security deposit
$35 for first month dues
Obligations: Playing Members are subject to all the rules of the club. They do not have neither voting privileges, nor own stock nor serve as officers or on the board.
Club Service: Each Playing Member is required to complete three workday credits per year, as defined in Article II, Section 9(B) of the MBBC Bylaws. These include participation in Club workdays, tournaments and other events. Failure to meet the service obligations will result in a monetary assessment as described in the MBBC Bylaws.
Playing Members do not have voting privileges, nor own stock, nor serve as officers or on the Board of Directors.
Playing members are subject to all rules of the Club and obligations of membership as described in the MBBC Bylaws.
Playing Members are allowed to invite up to three guests who must be signed in prior to play. Playing members shall be billed for their guests and are responsible for their guest’s behavior while visiting the Club. The same guest may play only twice per month.
Drop-ins are not allowed as Playing Members and guests must arrive at the same time.
